DESCRIPTION:

The Mansion is protected by one of the highest dunes in the area. It sits well above flood stage. Flood insurance is not required. The dune, which is more than twelve feet above mean high tide, is itself protected by a buried sandbag system costing $50,000 in the 1980s when it was installed. The system is covered by earth and sand, and landscaped. Mature growth now protects the reinforced dune. The Mansion is better protected from storms than many homes inland.
