Saint Matthew Church is an independent, American, Ecumenical Old Catholic Community that seeks to make the richness of Catholic spirituality and tradition available and accessible to the many people who for some reason -- despite their faith and baptism -- have been denied or excluded from the essential, sacramental life of the Church at Rome.
Now some 15 years in existence, St. Matthew has become one of the largest and most vibrant parishes in the Independent Catholic Movement. One of the few with their own facility, St. Matthew has about 11,000 square feet of space at 1111 Town and Country Road in Orange, California. Pastor of St. Matthew is Bishop Peter E. Hickman. In the Apr 23, 1999 issue of National Catholic Reporter, there was an extensive article and interview with Bishop Hickman.
