An ordained Christian minister since 1977, he was incardinated into the United Catholic Church in July 2001 and rose to the rank of Monsignor~Vicar. On November 18, 2001, he was consecrated to the Holy Office of the Bishop in Tampa, Florida at the Christ the Servant Apostolic Catholic Church.
In addition to his church responsibilities, Bishop Keawe is extremely active in civic activities, particularly among the indigenous people of the Pacific. A well-known radio and television personality, he was program director of KCCN radio for three years, and entertained people as an on-air radio personality for five years.
For six years, he served on the Board of Directors and was the past president (1999-2000) of the Aloha Festivals, a Statewide Cultural Event.
Currently, he is the Chief Executive Officer of Kimo Keawe Television Presentation, Inc. and president emeritus of Television Studio Hawaii. From 1986 to the present, he is the voice and TV host for the Keiki Hula Competition, named after Hawaiis last reigning monarch, Queen Lydia Liliuokalani. In addition, he also serves as a member of the Executive Board of Directors for Prevent Child Abuse Hawaii, and soon to serve as a member of the Board of Directors for the Sanctus Theological Institute in Mesa, AZ.
